Stronghold: Definitive Edition – Black Screen and Using Window 10/11 (N)

The Solution for Black Screen on Window 10/11 (N)

The solution (Works only if you have the “N” version of Windows):  The “N” indicates the edition that has no multimedia equipment such as Windows media player etc.

This missing system component is what causes the game not to run properly (it seems all games using Unity engine tend to have same problem). The solution is to add this missing component:

Windows 10 (N):

Select Start, then select Settings > Apps > Apps and Features > Optional features > Add a feature. Find the Media Feature Pack in the list of available optional features.

Windows 11 (N):

Select Start, then select Settings > Apps > Optional features. Select View features next to Add an optional feature, and then select the Media Feature Pack in the list of available optional features.

Important: You will not be prompted to restart your computer, but you must restart in order to successfully complete installation of the Media Feature Pack.

Being a big gaming fan, I believe that I have a lot to share with other gamers. I got my first official job in the game industry in 2005 and continue to develop there. It's a true blessing when your passion, hobby, and job combine into something one. My favorite console is the Nintendo Switch. I think you can all guess why. Because I just bought a Steam Deck.
